Next Gen Leadership Series: Jordyn Ney

Get to know the minds behind the movement.

Name:
Jordyn Ney

Where are you from?
East Lampeter, Lancaster, PA.

Tell us a little about your professional background.
I am a registered lobbyist at GSL Public Affairs, where I represent private sector clients across many industries, including regenerative agriculture, clean energy, logistics real estate, and healthcare. In my role, I work with a team of seasoned experts to offer strategic political

advice to our clients and to provide our clients with access to elected officials by leveraging our legislative and executive relationships.

What is your passion?
My passion is promoting a culture of personal excellence and community wellness. To do so, we must confront what holds us back—the decline in American health—and commit to real change.

My own nutrition and fitness journey reshaped how I understand the world. I’ve learned that pursuing personal and communal excellence requires feeling good—cognitively, physically, and spiritually. That feeling comes from giving our bodies what our biology requires: nutritious food, regular movement, and daily sunlight.

This realization sharpened my purpose: to confront America’s health crisis through bold policy and advocacy. I’m driven to lead systemic change—shifting mindsets, influencing policy, and inspiring action. My goal is to build a healthier, more empowered future by connecting people to the knowledge, tools, and support they need to thrive.

I see Lancaster as a model for what’s possible.

What morals and values do you live your life by?

1) Discipline & Work Ethic
I uphold the promises I make to myself through self-discipline and consistency, building a work ethic that endures beyond fleeting motivation.

2) Moral Integrity
I strive to be congruent, aligning my actions with my values through regular self-reflection, striving to uplift others with empathy, authenticity, and purpose.

3) Personal Accountability
I take full responsibility for my life, approaching challenges with a no-excuses mindset and creating the change I want to see in my life.

4) Interpersonal Collaboration
I value human connection and diverse perspectives, believing collaboration and active listening are essential to progress.

5) Intellectual Curiosity
I pursue lifelong learning with open-mindedness, always eager to challenge my beliefs and learn from those with deeper expertise.

6) Humility & Growth Mindset
I embrace risk, challenge, and new ideas, knowing that growth requires humility and a constant openness to learning.

What is a quote that speaks to you?
In The Well-Lived Life by Gladys McGarey, she aptly states, “Kutch par wa nay,” Hindustani for “it doesn’t matter.”

McGarey is a 103-year-old doctor widely regarded as the mother of holistic medicine. She shares this quote to emphasize the importance of releasing what no longer serves you and refocusing on what truly matters.

As a Type A perfectionist, this quote offers me grace, frees me from regret, and encourages solution-oriented thinking.

When you leave a room, what do you want people to say about you?

“She makes me feel good about myself.”

I want to leave every room more positive than it was before I walked in. I want people to feel heard, valued, and encouraged to pursue their personal excellence.

What’s a belief you once held strongly that you’ve since changed your mind about — and what changed it?

I used to think that saying “everything happens for a reason” meant surrendering control of your future to some higher power — as if your life had already been decided for you, leaving no room to shape it for yourself. But my understanding of that phrase has changed. Now, I see it as a reflection of how our current reality is shaped by a series of actions and inactions. I also recognize the beauty in how the universe brings people, places, and experiences into our lives to teach us and help us grow. Each interaction becomes a chance to learn and evolve, giving us the tools to intentionally create the life we want.

What do you love the most about Lancaster?

The energy. The community. The passion.

Every time I step into Lemon Street Market, I’m greeted by familiar faces, and I can’t help but smile. At Amanita, the coffee isn’t just a drink—it’s a gateway to meaningful conversation with baristas. And if I’m reading at Prince Street Cafe, someone will undoubtedly approach me, eager to ask what my book is about.

Lancaster isn’t just a place to live—it’s a place where every weekend the community comes together, whether it’s a race, an arts festival, or some other incredible event that brings us all out of our homes. The food scene here is nothing less than culinary art, with chefs who pour their hearts into every dish, crafting flavors and presentations that convey a sense of pride and passion.

Lancaster is the model of personal excellence and communal wellness — where passion, creativity, and genuine connection thrive.

What does a perfect day in Lancaster County look like to you?
It starts with a sunny morning yoga session—either on the rooftop at Tellus or in a hot vinyasa flow at Blaze Power Yoga. Then I’d swing by Central Market or Lemon Street Market to grab some fresh, local eats for the day (support your local farmer!).

Back home, I’d cook a big breakfast for my family before heading into town to meet my grandma for coffee at Amanita (God willing they reopen soon).

In the afternoon, I’d curl up with a book by Casey Means, Will Harris, or Peter Attia—anything that inspires food for thought. Then I’d get ready for a sprint session at the F&M track with the Next Gen team, soaking in that post-run endorphin high.

To close out the day, I’d head home, get dressed up, and meet friends for dinner. Whether it’s a backyard dinner party under string lights or a meal at one of my favorite spots—Passerine or John J. Jeffries—it would be a night filled with great food, spent in good company.

What does the phrase “Next Generation of Lancaster” mean to you?

Next Generation of Lancaster is a movement of leaders dedicated to building on the legacy and momentum of those who came before—to shape a dynamic, high-impact ecosystem in Lancaster, PA. Next Gen is like applying a chrome filter to Lancaster’s present: it amplifies the vibrancy, sharpens the focus, and brings out the brilliance that’s already there—making the city shine even brighter.
