What is your full name, and where are you from?
Michael Rowen, I was born in Norwalk Ct, grew up in Manheim Township. Graduated from MT went to Boulder Colo for a year but did not attend college. Returned to Lancaster to start a career. I own Michaels Motor Cars.
Can you share a little about your professional background and current role?
I am mechanically inclined and without any real training I started a small European Car repair service in Lancaster. My parents owned Susquehanna Glass Co, so I did grow up in a family owned business environment.
What inspired you to get involved in your family business (or field of work)?
My inspiration to start my business was quite simple, I liked cars and people.
What do you consider your biggest passion or driving force in your career?
My passion in my career has always been to be able to enjoy a good life, not just financially but as a whole person.
Have you experienced any challenges or adversity in your journey? If so, how did you overcome them?
I overcame many difficult times by having strong mentors my whole life. This is very important. It is also important to become a mentor even when you might not realize it is happening.
I have always been close to all my employees. I try to balance a working relationship and staying friendly and helpful. I am very aware of the importance of high ethics in business.

What has been one of the biggest highlights or successes you’ve experienced in your family business?
I have not had my biggest success yet, but I am sure it is just around the corner.
What advice would you give to the next generation stepping into leadership roles?
Become involved in groups like this one.
